We have striven to ensure that Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway is accessible for everyone. Whether you have a wheelchair, pushchair or are visiting with somebody who has additional needs, we have done all we can to make sure that everyone is catered for and everyone can enjoy their visit to us.

This statement aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our visitors.

By Road:

Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway is easily accessed from the M180. Take the xx to Cleethorpes and follow signs for Meridian Lakeside.

Public Transport

Bus – Bus stop is situated a 2 minute walk from Lakeside Station

Train – Direct services to Cleethorpes from Manchester Airport via Sheffield. Taxis available from station for visitors.

Disabled parking facilities are available at all our stations. If you are a blue badge holder, parking is free. All blue badge bays have a tarmac surface, with some overflow on gravelled and grass surfaces at Lakeside.

The parking bays at Lakeside are approximately 50m from the entrance. 

There are over 400 parking spaces at Lakeside  as well as space for several coaches.

All our outside areas are accessible by wheelchair, with tarmac or block paving surfaces.

On most trains, we have a wheelchair accessible carriage which can accommodate either two wheelchairs or one mobility scooter.

As a light railway, our carriages do have fairly narrow access openings with a step over/up from the platform. 

Pushchairs can be accommodated on each train using the luggage compartments. We ask that these are folded. If a large pushchair that cannot be folded, these can be left at the station or in the disabled carriage, provided it is not otherwise in use. 

Lakeside

Upon entering the building, you will find the gift shop and cafe.

Train tickets and other items  is at the sales counter here. This area is flat with easy and level access for wheelchairs

The sales counter is 920mm high. Lakeside Station also has toilets, baby change and disabled facilities. There is a paved crossing for wheelchair users. The platforms are paved and level. Assistance is available when required to reach higher shelves.

The entrance and exit doors in the station are accessible to wheelchair users. They are double doors and are normally fully open. Staff will help at any time if required.

Platform One Cafe is located at Lakeside Station.

This is all on ground level and is currently take-away service, with orders being taken at the sales counter.

In the case of hot food and drink, staff will ask users to wait in the waiting area and bring the food to them. In other circumstances, food/drinks are served immediately from the sales counter 900mm high.

There are free standing tables with loose seating. Tables are  780mm high. Assistance is available on requestTables and chairs are not fixed and can be rearranged to accommodate wheelchair users.

The surfaces of outside eating areas are a mixture of paving and decking. Some areas have parasols to provide shade if required.

Due to the historic and confined nature of the Signal Box Inn building, it is currently inaccessible for wheelchairs.

There is an access ramp to the door, where staff can assist with orders.

The outside beer garden and entrance paths are level and fully paved. On summer days, some areas have parasols to provide shade if required.

Toilet facilities are available with wheelchair access at Lakeside Station.

These unisex toilets are equipped with low level basins, handles and automatic hand dryers. There are no lifting facilities available. Entrances are xx mm wide.

Toilets are accessed via the Signal Box Inn beer garden or through Lakeside Station building, both of which are fully wheelchairaccessible.

Unisex baby changing facilities are also located here.

Assistance Dogs

We welcome assistance dogs into all areas of our site and allow free travel on our trains. Dog water bowls are provided at each station.

Hidden Disabilities

We understand that it is not always obvious who needs additional assistance and support.  It can also be difficult finding places to visit for a day out if someone you know has additional needs.
